A Traditional Commercial Sauna for Frequent Member Use
Harvest Custom Wine Cellars and Saunas completed this commercial sauna replacement for the Commonwealth Club in Richmond, Virginia, replacing the club’s previous sauna with a traditional Western Red Cedar sauna designed for frequent member use.
Located within the club’s locker room, the new sauna combines traditional materials and styling with a 10 kW Harvia OY stainless-steel Finnish heater. The completed room had to fit the existing commercial environment while creating a brighter, more inviting experience for members.

Western Red Cedar Benchwork and Traditional Styling
Western Red Cedar creates the warm appearance associated with a traditional sauna. Horizontal boards and tiered bench seating make the compact locker-room installation feel cohesive and welcoming.
The new interior is a clear visual change from the darker sauna it replaced, while remaining appropriate for regular use in an established club setting.
Replacing an Existing Club Sauna
This project began with an existing sauna rather than an entirely new space. Harvest worked within the club environment to replace the previous room and install the new cedar interior, seating and heating equipment.
The project demonstrates how a commercial sauna can be renewed within an existing locker-room footprint instead of requiring a completely separate wellness area.
A 10 kW Harvia Finnish Heater
A 10 kW Harvia OY stainless-steel heater manufactured in Finland supplies heat for the completed room. The heater sits behind a protective cedar guard that visually connects it with the surrounding benchwork.
Selecting equipment appropriate to the room and expected use is an important part of commercial sauna planning.
